Kohima, April 27 (EMN): It’s a place for leisure with an environmental message to offer. ‘Peli Pru and Dahou’ is a ‘plastic-free zone resting and picnicking spot.’ It was inaugurated on April 27 at Rücienu in Kohima.
The place was an idea of a community group called ‘Kenei Peli Khrie-12’ of a clan, Pfuchatsumia Thinuo, of Kohima village. The motto for the initiative is ‘Kenei keba ra’ (Angami for ‘where happiness prevails’).
Legislator Khriehu Liezietsu attended the inauguration as guest of honour. He inaugurated the place.
Liezietsu congratulated the organisers for taking a ‘big step’ in establishing it, and wished them the best even in their future endeavours too.
The chairman of P Khel Council, Kruyie Pienyü addresses the programme too. In his address, Pienyü challenged them to ‘work hard.’ He urged them to refrain from providing revenue and jobs to outsiders.
The council leader urged parents to teach their children manual work and household chores. There is nothing to be ashamed of in working hard, he said.
Pienyü mentioned that the resting place was for everyone ‘including tourists.’
Everyone is welcomed to come and have a good time. But the villagers will not entertain anyone indulging in antisocial activities at the venue, he said.
A prayer seeking blessings was said by Kiyadeilie Mere, a deacon at Baptist Revival Church, Keyaki Tenyimia, in Kohima.
The villagers were thanked for their contributing to the completion of the shed, and other in various capacities too.
