New Delhi, June 17: On the eve of the first Parliament Session of the newly constituted 17th Lok Sabha, the Union Government convened a meeting of the Leaders of all Parties in Parliament today soliciting their suggestions and flagging issues by the parties.
In the meeting in which PM Modi was on the Chair, Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze stated that the Indo-Naga issue is an important national issue which needs the attention of Parliament and urges the Prime Minister to bring the Framework Agreement to its logical conclusion at the earliest.
While congratulating PM Modi for coming back to power with a bigger mandate, he said that the new Government under PM Modi’s leadership will carry along with him the minorities and safeguard their rights and interest under ‘Saab Ki Saath, Saab Ka Vikas, Saab Ka Bishwas’. He further stated that minority’s culture should be preserved as they are an asset for the nation and there should be no cultural imposition. Coming to North East India, he suggested that for effective development, streamlining and devolution of power is needed in the functioning of the Ministry of DoNER and for this NEC should be empowered effectively.
He appeal to all the leaders present in the meeting to allow the Parliament function fruitfully and productively so that all the newly elected Members of Parliament can discharge their duties as per the mandate given by the people of this country.
In the meeting of the NDA chaired by PM Modi later in the evening in which many senior leaders of the ruling dispensation attended, he raised the issue of Inner Line Permits (ILP), AFSPA and CAB confronting the Manipur State and urges the PM to give serious attention on these matters.
