“Naga People’s Front (NPF) as a political party has been a strong factor in bringing peace and harmony in Manipur; and this fact should not be denied by anyone as there has been no economic blockade and less bandhs in Manipur.”

PHED Minister, L Dikho stated this at an NPF campaign held at Nungbi Khullen, Ukhrul district. While asserting that NPF is the only political party for the Nagas that will solidly stand for the truth and cause of Nagas and tribal, he also stated that Dr. Lorho S Pfoze is a man of integrity and a very presentable candidate. “I am here to acknowledge the contribution of the Tangkhul people and at the same time to appeal for your guidance. There are only two things and that is our identity and faith in God that will save us; and this identity and faith has been binding us together in spite of our different geographical locations,” he said.

“Reverend Pettigrew first landed at Mao, but we chased him out. After a long time, the gospel and education was imparted to us by Tangkhul people and we are now what we are today because of the seeds sown by the Tangkhuls,” L Dikho continued while also expressing his thanks on behalf of NPP to the Tangkhul communing for supporting its candidate, Soso Lorho (Poumai) in the last Lok Sabha election.  He also lauded the Tangkhuls for always standing in the forefront while taking decisions adding that this has encouraged other Naga tribes to take such decisive decision

He also mentioned that there are some Naga leaders who are misleading the common people by undermining the issues and issues confronted by Nagas enquiring how long they could continue misleading the Naga people. “These leaders are answerable to the people,” he maintained.

Chingai MLA, Khashim Vashum, in his speech, said, “Although I am from this area; today, I stand here before you as a Naga and Dr.  Lorho S Pfoze is not new to many of us as he has been serving as a doctor in Chingai PHC from the 80s.” Recollecting that Raphei had always been united in giving their votes when it comes to MP election and that is a living record, he further appealed the gathering to once again give their undivided votes to Dr. Lorho S Pfoze for the greater cause of Nagas and tribal.

Speaking on the occasion, president of Central NPF, Morung Makunga also stated that they have come there to appeal the villagers of Nungbi to give their votes to NPF candidate Dr.  Lorho S Pfoze. While stating that it was through the education imparted by Tangkhuls that the Maring tribe has come this far, he also elaborated on the formation of NPF, and the party’s vision and goal.

“We badly need a representative to parliament to represent our voice, problems and concern; and now it is time for the present generation to save our movement for the future generation,” Morung Makunga continued adding that “Delimitation is coming and we need to prepare ourselves for adequate representation to the Manipur State Legislative Assembly.”  Maintaining that money power can spoil the future of the people, if they sell and exchange their voting rights, he appealed the gathering to wisely cast their votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Chairman of Raphei Wungnao (Raphei Headman Association) who is also the headman of Marem village, Wungpam Lungranwo also presented a solidarity message on the occasion informing that the 45 villages under the Raphei Wungnao had taken the decision to support NPF candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

In his vote of address, headman of Nungbi Khullen, AS Shaingam further declared that the village will vote for the NPF candidate in the Lok Sabha election.

The event also witnessed the attendance of member, ADC Ukhrul, 4-Nungbi DCC, K. Dickson, headmen from Longpi Kajui, Ngahui and other neighbouring villages along with several supporters from the village and neighbouring villages.
