In continuation to its r run of seizures and apprehensions, Tengnoupal Battalion Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended a drug smuggler carrying Brown Sugar worth Rs. 1,87,20,000 at Khudengthabi check post, said a press release from IGAR (South).

On April 2 at around 12 noon, based on specific input received from reliable source, a joint team of troops of Khudengthabi Post AR and CDO team Moreh stopped a silver coloured Maruti Alto car travelling from Moreh to Imphal for checking. While carrying out a thorough checking of vehicle, orange coloured powder suspected to be Brown Sugar (70 packets) was found hidden inside the body of the vehicle.

The smuggler was identified as Haopu Haokip, 33 years, son of Khellet Haokip from Phaicham Veng, Binda Part-III, Moreh, Tengnoupal district. The individual along with the contraband were handed over to Moreh Police Station, added the release.
