UKHRUL| Jun 12: Customers of United Bank of India -Viewland, Ukhrul has expressed their dissatisfaction after they were left unattended for almost an hour. Despite several customers standing in the queue today, the cashier reportedly went out for a tea at 11:20 am leaving the customers stranded.
Speaking to the IFP, Somipam Vashum, one of the customers who happened to be in the bank during the hour, stated that the cashier, Amit was found by some security personnel drinking tea at a nearby tea stall. “Since his phone was switched off, one of the security personnel had gone and checked the nearby tea stalls only to find him there,” Somipam Vashum said while adding that such behaviour where the bank staffs could take breaks anytime was not acceptable.
It may be mentioned here that the absence of the cashier was first shared in social media platforms; and the newly posted branch manager, Ranabir Ngangom while interacting with the IFP’s correspondent has also admitted the same.
In the meantime, some customers had reportedly requested for immediate replacement of the irresponsible cashier; while it has also been learnt the earlier branch manager had also issued a letter of reprimand to the cashier for correction.
