Former Lok Sabha MP, Kim Gangte, who had just resigned from BJP has now joined NPP. Kim Gangte had resigned from the BJP on Thursday over denial of ticket to contest the election. Gangte was considered the BJP party’s ‘woman face’ in Manipur.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is also President of the National People’s Party (NPP), inducted Kim Gangte into the party during the campaign event for the party in Churachandpur on Friday.
“Ms. Gangte joining our party will further strengthen our base in Manipur”, he said.
The party President sounded the poll bugle ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections to drum up support for party candidate Thangminlien Kipgen from Outer Manipur.
The NPP led by Sangma will be fielding candidates in all seven Northeastern states of India.
