Morung Express News | Dimapur | October 29: The Working Committee (WC) of the 7 Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) reiterated its position with regard to concluding the political talks with the Government of India (GoI). “We are ready and prepared to sign an agreement anytime,” said a leader of the WC on October 29.
Queried on the WC’s meeting with GoI Interlocutor and Nagaland Governor RN Ravi today, the leader termed it as a “fruitful dialogue,” while adding, “All our views have been put across and reiterated again.”
According to him, inserting safeguards in the final agreement with regard to flag and constitution was decided at today’s meeting.
In the event of a final agreement, he said that the WC and GoI will “fine-tune documents” to safeguard, among others, the pursuing of the issue of Naga flag and constitution post a final agreement.
He clarified that the fine-tuning will not imply changing the Agreed Position, which will remain the same for posterity. “We have negotiated on so many issues. It would mean reiterating and reminding various points and also inserting legal and parliamentary usages where required.”
“As Nagas we want them – NSCN (IM) – to be a part of the agreement,” he said, while reiterating, “We are ready any day and we are not worried if (the talks between) NSCN (IM) and GOI extend beyond October 31 or not.”
Meanwhile, Interlocutor RN Ravi also sat with the NSCN (IM) Collective Leadership today. No fresh progress was made with the negotiations stuck on the issue of separate Naga flag and constitution. A senior NSCN (IM) leader said that both parties “shared our views.” Another meeting is scheduled on October 30.
