UKHRUL | Aug 12: Hundreds of youths demonstrated a parade in Ukhrul town to celebrate the International Youth Day. The parade was kicked off from mission ground and converged at the Town Hall. Youths from Ukhrul took part in the parade by wearing colourful and traditional attires.

MLA of 44-Ukhrul assembly constituency, Alfred Kanngam Arthur attended the programme. In his speech, Alfred Kanngam Arthur lauded the Ukhrul youths for coming together and showing the spirit of unity. He expressed that it was always a blessing and an opportunity to interact with the youths.

He exhorted that youths would take care of the elders, a great legacy, in the future. He added that it should be a worthy legacy and an honourable future and that respect had to be earned. He encouraged the gathering to make sure that their future becomes respectful.

A member of the organising committee, Vareishang Phungshok informed that the youth of Ukhrul district had collectively organised this programme under the initiatives of URA Trust. He stated that the youths of Ukhrul have come together to raise their voices so that it will be heard by the society and government.

This year, International Youth Day was celebrated under the theme “Transforming Education” and students from various schools in Ukhrul Headquarter took part in the youth parade. Vareishang Phungshok stated that the event was sponsored by MLA, Alfred Kanngam Arthur and expressed gratitude for his constant support and concern for the youth.

Fame Tangkhul artist, JC Kitts and Manchung Shinglai performed their original numbers. Gold medallist of Jeet Kune-Do Championship 2019, Mashungngam Horam and Nimreiso Khodang demonstrated their skills.  A street act was performed by Scareables and a beautiful choreography was presented by Wungchon Girls Hostel followed by a dance performance from Ukhrul Dance Club. During the programme, IGSSS Ukhrul presented an achievement award to Hoome Vokngayar Youth Club for their outstanding contribution and exemplary work. The entire programme was hosted by Tangkhul heartthrob, Soshim Keishing and Themshang Mayirnao.

    I really support and appreciate the organization we the youngsters enjoy a lot but some of the school and college didn’t declear holiday so some of the youngsters don’t get to see or enjoy the beauty of being a youth.hihihi that’s all
