IMPHAL | Aug 28: President of International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA), Jiribam branch, Konthoujam Ibomcha Singh along with two other individuals were reportedly arrested at Jirighat Police outpost yesterday at around 11:30 pm with contraband WY tablets.

The remaining two are vice -president, IPSA, Jiribam branch, M. Nungshithoiba Singh and Huirem Kiran Kumar Singh who is a government teacher at residence of Hilghat, Jiribam, said a statement.

As per police report, the three quarrelled with a local at Lakhipur and  proceeded towards Jiribam in their personnel SUV, Bolero which has  the name plate  ‘President IPSA’ bearing registration- AS-03J-2222, it said.

Meanwhile, the Lakhipur SDPO reported to Jirighat Police Outpost as soon as Jirighat police alerted, while the vehicle reach to the outpost, it further said. The police signalled them to stop but they tried to evade being halted. However, due to presence of a barricade, they could not escape and were halted. While checking, it was found that 1600 WY concealed in 10 packets were carrying in the vehicle, it added.

It was learnt from Jirighat Police source, the arrested persons along with the seized contraband items were handed over to Lakhipur Police for further investigation, it said.

Meanwhile, our Jiribam correspondent has added that president of Sinlon club, Hilghat, Jiribam Manipur has clarified in a statement that the arrested persons do not hail from Hilghat Village of Jiribam.
