UKHRUL | Aug 9: MLA of Chingai, Khashim Vashum today visited and inspected the ongoing works and preparations for the third edition of the forthcoming Manipur State- Shirui Lily Festival which is scheduled to be held from October 16-19.
The MLA was accompanied by ADC Members Paothing Vashum and Ngamsung Hashuwo newly appointed DC of Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson and along with SP- Ukhrul, Worngam Ningshen, CEO ADC Ukhrul Polly Makan and Chairman of Ato Longphang Dearson Chamroy.
Speaking on the occasion, Khashim Vashum appealed the Shirui Village Organising Committee to extend support and ensure the safety of workers who are stationed at the base of Shirui Peak. “A permanent stage, gate and public toilet complex along with a statue of unity will be constructed within the stipulated remaining two-month time,” he said while also assuring that with maximum help from the State government will be extended so as to make this year celebration a successful one.
DC of Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson also made an appeal to the villagers and the populace of Ukhrul to extend maximum co-operation so as to make this year celebration a better one than the previous year.
The Shirui Village Organising Committee has been demanding the extension of the ground for the Shirui Lily Festival opening ceremony; and accordingly CM, N. Biren has promised the same in 2017. Secretary of Shirui Village Organising Committee, Mayopam Shangh expressed gratitude to the CM of Manipur and Chingai MLA for their timely intervention along with the support and concern for the district extended by the State government.
Meanwhile, the existing ground is undergoing major expansion; and under the supervision of Shirui Village Organising Committee, the surface of the ground is being levelled and expanded by digging an area of 5 feet from the existing conditions through deployment of heavy machineries.
