KANGPOKPI | Jul 3: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has warned the newly elected Outer Manipur MP, Dr. Lorho Pfoze to either apologise or face boycott, in regard to his maiden speech at the Parliament where he had allegedly spoke for one community solely.
While advising him to avoid boycotts in Kuki dominated areas, KIM asked the MP to apologise for his speech if “he sincerely represents all the communities of the State.”
KIM, the apex body of the entire Kuki community, had discussed in length over the maiden speech of Dr. Lorho Pfoze in the Parliament, and concluded that his speech reflects “his predisposition and abysmal narrow mindedness and parochialism which will not serve any purpose.”
“His speech indicates his involvement in the secessionist movement of the NSCN-IM because if the MP sincerely wants to let peace reigns in the North East region and Manipur in particular, he should have mentioned the needs for talks with all the UGs operating in the region and the State including Meetei, Kuki, etc.,” asserted secretary (Information and Publicity) KIM,Thongkam Haokip.“Singly giving pressure for immediate solution of the NSCN-IM talks only indicates that he is a communal politician while the people of Manipur wants politician who work for the welfare of the people he represent in particular instead of speaking in support of a secessionist NSCN-IM,” he added.
Thongkam Haokip further added that Dr. Lorho Pfoze should bear in mind that the problems in the hills of Manipur is due to the naked aggression of the Nagas of Manipur on the Kukis with the intention of dispossessing the Kukis of their land by force and fraud and that any settlement in solution with the Nagas alone can never solve the political problems of Manipur.
While cautioning Dr. Lorho Pfoze not to undermine the political rights of other communities of Manipur whileaddressing the need for early solution to the problems of the Kuccha Naga dominated NSCN-IM’s political issues, KIM also reiterated its demands for his apologies in regard to his maiden preferential speech in the Parliament. “In case of failure to do so, we will be compelled to declare a boycott against him in all Kuki dominate areas,” KIM warned.
