As part of celebrating International Jazz Day, the Music Task Force (MTF) Nagaland in association with Nagaland College of Music & Fine Arts (NCMFA) is organizing the Ist Kohima Arts & Jazz Festival on April 30 at Regional Centre for Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma.
Addressing a press conference, MTF project director Hovithal Sothu said that MTF is committed to promote music industry in the state in a big way. This Jazz festival is one of them. In the coming days, he said, the MTF will also promote rock music, folk music, fusion, classical, rhythm and blues, country music, pop music, beat box etc.
NCMFA founder and managing director Vesato Theluo thanked the MTF for coming forward to support the musicians. He said NCMFA plans on organizing Jazz festival in a bigger way in the coming years.
It is a celebration of the arts in a community for embracing and nurturing music, Naga indigenous art, choral and the visual arts.
The event will also feature indoor and outdoor stages of live music, fine art, photo gallery, restaurants, crafts, ethnic food, and inflatable castle for kids and information booths. Day event will start from 11:00 am.
The concert will start at 5:00 pm, featuring Tetseo Sisters, Blue Print, Virie, Nagagenous, NCMFA Jazz Ensemble, Mengu Suokhrie, Ameu Usou Zao & the Choir, Chris Jazz Trio.
Tickets for concert will be available in two categories- Rs 2000 (Donors- admit 2) and Rs 300 (General).
Tickets have been available at Dream Café, Radiant Restaurant, Impact Centre Point Complex, Bible House, Music Garage and Unitex.
