The news titled ‘Scam detected in selection of Ph.D candidates in MU’ published on February 21 has been found to be based on unreliable information though it came from a familiar and well known source.
An insider who knows the details of the story told IFP today that the selection of PhD candidates was conducted strictly by established rules and regulations of the University.
The exam was held on February 4, 5 and 6. There were plans to declare the results on February 6 i.e. on the last day of the examination but it was not declared due to objections which came from M.Ed appearing students, who demanded that their results must come first, he said.
As some students raised complaints to the administrator, he resolved to release a notice that the results will be declared on 4 pm of February 11. However, there was a total shut down on the said date and the results were declared on February 16 as LiuNgaiNi Festival fell on February 15, right after the shutdown was lifted, he informed.
The papers which included the results of interviews were kept locked in a room of the department. As for the No Objection Certificate, candidates can still submit them till February 28, he added.
