As part of the on-going crackdown on contraband drugs, Moreh battalion along with teams of Moreh Police including women police personnel conducted detailed house searches in Moreh Town today during which an individual was arrested with a huge cache of contraband drugs.
Upon thorough search of the house of the individual, drugs were found kept at multiple locations which included 2.376 kg of Brown Sugar, 244 grams of Heroin powder and 342 packets of WY tablets (each containing 200 tablets). The value of the seized WY tablets is estimated to be worth around Rs 34.20 lakh in the local market, while the total value of the seized Brown Sugar and Heroin is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 5.24 crore making it a grand total of approximately Rs 5.582 crore. The police team also recovered Rs 23, 44, 200 in Indian currency and 1, 90, 000 Kyats of Myanmarese currency during the search operations.
The individual has been identified as Jilkhongam alias Tarmon Lhungdim, 44, son on Sokhothang Lhungdim of Yangoubung village at present residing at Gamnom Veng, Moreh ward No- II. And a case has been registered against Jilkhongam at Moreh PS.
The search operations were conducted following an input of the presence of a high profile drug peddler in Moreh town operating in all types of contraband, and multiple parties were launched to sanitise the area. The police teams were led by OC/Moreh, Letkhohao Vaiphei; SDPO(Moreh), Binoy Chongtham; DSP(CDO)/Moreh, Thomas Thokchom under the command of Robinsun Khamnam, additional SP, Tengnoupal and under the overall supervision of SP, Tengnoupal S. Ibomcha Singh.
It may be mentioned here that there has been a relentless crackdown on contraband drugs by Moreh police and Moreh battalion under the aegis of HQ 26 Sector; and the efforts have been further intensified. Multiple operations were conducted to crack down on drug peddlers whereby brown sugar, heroin and WY Tablets worth over 50 crore has been seized till date this year.
