A joint team of Moreh Battalion, Assam Rifles and Moreh Police seized contraband worth Rs 1.2 crore on February 11 from the front of Nasir Hotel, Moreh Bazar.
The contraband was found in a gunny bag of charcoal which was found lying in front of Nasir Hotel and it contained 24 soap packets out of which, 22 were filled with 300 grams of Heroin and the remaining 2 soap packets with 28 grams of Brown Sugar.
Police sources said that upon receiving specific information of likely contraband items being transported from Moreh to Imphal, the joint team had established multiple check posts and carried out search operation of suspicious locations in and around Moreh; and the gunny bag containing the contraband was found abandoned in front of Nasir Hotel, Moreh Bazar.
The seized contraband has been handed over to police for further legal actions.
It might be mentioned here that the team of Moreh police was led by ASI, T. Paominlun Haokip and while the team from 43 AR was led by major, RK Sharma; and they were acting under the command of SDPO-Moreh, Sandip Gopaldas Mohurle, SDPO-Moreh and the overall supervision of SP-Tengnoupal, S. Ibomcha Singh.
