Altogether nine children including one from Nagaland who were suffering from congenital heart diseases were given a new lease of life during a weeklong free heart surgery camp held from March 3-9 at Sky Hospital for the first time in northeast region.
Announcing this during a press conference held today at the hospital premises, chief cardiologist and chairman of Sky Hospital Dr. L. Shyamkishore expressed his happiness and satisfaction on successful completion of the camp.
He stated that the majority of children born with various heart defects do not survive unless they are diagnosed and properly treated at an early stage. The nine children who have availed the opportunity of the free heart camp will now grow up like any normal person, he added.
A traditional cake cutting ceremony of those operated children was also held at during the occasion.
The free heart surgery camp was jointly organised by Healing Little Hearts based in United Kingdom, Manipur Heart Foundation and Sky Hospital.
