Graduate teachers of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) today proceeded for a rally to meet the education minster but police intervened and stopped them at Naoremthong.
Speaking to media persons at the spot, publicity and information secretary of graduate teachers association Pamei Zion informed that the teachers began their cease work strike from November 2 last year and they had submitted a memorandum to department concerned on November 6 and even meet the chief minister during one of People’s Day.
“After the chief minister assurance to look into the demands of the teachers, the cease work strike was called off but even after two-three months had passed, the government failed to take up any action regarding the demands,” he decried.
He further said that the teachers had been demanding the release of pending salary, to regularize their monthly salary, introduce Promotion Avenue with the same level as that of other teachers from Education (S) and to absorb the teachers as state cadre.
Later representative of the teachers went to meet the minister. There are three batch of RMSA which was recruited in the year 2011, 2014 and 2016. Altogether 450 teachers were recruited in 2011, 300 in 2014 and another 240 teachers in 2016.
