IMPHAL | Jun 9: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today distributed 25 life jackets to the villagers of Ramrei in a function held at Ramrei community hall.
Speaking at the occasion, MPCC president Gaikhangam asserted that the life jackets were distributed for use by the villagers as well as the picnickers in the future.
Recounting the tragic incident that happened on April 28 at Ramrei Eco Tourism site where three persons lost their lives after drowning in the water reservoir of Thoubal Multipurpose Project, he said that the unfortunate incident is an eye opener for everyone.
The incident cautioned us to take precautionary measures whenever and wherever possible as lives could have been saved had the trio worn the life jackets, he said. Moreover, the Ramrei villagers, leaving aside all differences and their daily schedules, took a major role in searching for the drowned bodies.
