Dimapur, Jan. 31: It has been reported by a section of the local media, and widely circulated in social media, that the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has ended its search for the person to succeed the late Isak Chishi Swu as the chairman of the group. The report also said that the swearing-in ceremony was likely to take place on Thursday but reliable sources informed Eastern Mirror that this was incorrect.

According to an NSCN (IM) leader, the outfit was observing the 40th NSCN Day on Jan. 31 but not the swearing-in of the new chairman. The source also said that the reports of Qhehezu Tuccu, popularly called Q Tuccu, being chosen as late Isak’s successor was yet to be confirmed and refused to divulge further information.

However, the general secretary of the NSCN-IM, Thuingaleng Muivah is expected to arrive in Nagaland on Monday, Feb. 4. Sources informed that he would hold meetings with Tuccu and might take a while before the swearing-in ceremony takes place.

It may be mentioned that the post of the outfit’s chairman has been left vacant since the death of Isak on June 28, 2016. Tuccu is said to be the front-runner to fill the top post.

The NSCN-IM had earlier issued a press statement informing it would hold a special prayer service at its headquarters in Hebron, seeking God’s help in choosing the right persons to fill the vacant posts caused by the death of its chairman Isak and vice chairman Khole Konyak.
