Dimapur, Feb. 5: The general secretary of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) Thuingaleng Muivah arrived in Dimapur on Feb. 4 and headed to the outfit’s camp at Hebron the same day.

Muivah and his wife were received at the airport by senior members of the NSCN-IM and is informed to have reached around 6 pm at Hebron the same evening as the flight they were on was delayed in New Delhi due to visibility issues; and then further delayed in Kolkata for more than three hours, according to a source.

Another reliable source informed Eastern Mirror that Q Tuccu and Tongmeth Konyak, the front-runners for the post of chairman and vice-president respectively were already awaiting Muivah’s arrival at Hebron.

The source also informed that on Feb. 11, a “major meeting” (national hoho) has been called but the swearing-in-ceremony of the outfit’s chairman and vice-president is yet to be confirmed.

An official from the group’s ministry of information and publicity was also contacted but he refused to divulge any information on the contention that it was a “sensitive issue.”

Since the posts of the outfit’s chairman and vice-president have been left vacant after the death of Isak Chishi Swu and Khole Konyak respectively, it is widely expected that Muivah’s arrival this time would seal the elevation of two senior leaders to the positions laying vacant.
