14.29 Crores grants received by Ukhrul based NGOs in the last five years

As per the reports available at NGO Darpan portal, 11 Ukhrul based NGOs* had received a total of 14.29 crores in the last 5 financial years from 2013-14 till 2017-18.  The grants received are from State Government, Central Government and from Overseas. The figures, however, can be higher, taking in  view that some may have not yet filed the details under FCRA for the FY 2017-18 as the last date for FY 2017-18 is 31st December 2018. Moreover there are chances that some NGOs are not registered under NGO Darpan portal or may not have given their declarations.

All NGOs, which receive foreign donations, have been directed by the home ministry to register themselves with a platform offered by the Niti Aayog to ensure better transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

In a notification, the ministry said that existing NGOs, which were registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, and those which are seeking registration or prior permission or accepting foreign contributions are required to register with the DARPAN portal of the Niti Aayog.

The portal enables NGOs to enroll centrally and thus facilitatescreation of a repository of information about NGOs sector-wise. It facilitates NGOs to obtain a system generated unique ID as when signed.

DARPAN provides space for an interface between the voluntary organizations/NGOs and key government ministries, departments and government bodies.

It is a free facility offered by the NITI Aayog in association with the National Informatics Centre to bring about a greater partnership between the government and voluntary sector and foster better transparency, efficiency, and accountability

The platform has been started to create and promote a healthy partnership between NGOs and the central government. The portal is presently managed by the NITI Aayog.
It is mandatory for all NGOs receiving foreign funding to register under the FCRA.

Here is the list of the 11 NGOs/VOs that have received grants and self-declared on NGO Darpan portal.

It can be seen that Volunteers For Village Development (VVD) received the highest grants in the said period amounting to 5.8 crores followed by Participatory Action for Sustainable Development Organisation (PASDO) at 2.19 crores and TTA at Rs 2 Crores.
