Special judge Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), Imphal East today convicted a 70 years old person under section 4 of the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a three years old minor girl during September, 2015.
The convict identified as Wahengbam Khomdon, 70, son of late W. Sanajaoba of Ahallup Makha Leikai was arrested on September 3, 2015 following a complaint lodged by the grandmother of the victim girl stating that the accused has sexually assaulted the girl after calling her inside her residence on August 29, 2015.
The matter came into light when the victim complained of pain in her private parts. The matter was not report in time considering the social stigma the minor victim had to endure, in case.
Investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet on January 17, 2017 against Khomdon under section 4 of POCSO Act but the accused had denied having committed the offence and claimed to be trial.
During the trial of the case statements of 10 prosecution witnesses and two defence witnesses have been recorded and examined by the court.
The court has fixed November 2 to announce the quantum of punishment to be awarded to the convict person.
