The Supreme Court on Monday extended the deadline for publishing the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) till July 30. Last month, NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela told The Indian Express that the June 30 deadline will not be met and he would seek a fresh date from the apex court, which is monitoring the exercise.
The first draft, which was published on January 1, verified 1.9 crore people out 3.29 crore applicants.
Attending the launching programme of the District Bilingual Website, Shri V Hangkhanlian, Hon’ble Minister (Agri/Vety.& AH) said he is not aware of the technicality involved in the website but I think this technology will foster a gap between the Public and the Government. We are very much grateful that we are the first district in Manipur to have launched a website and for this I would like to thank the State Informatics Officer, the District Administration and to all the officers involved in making the website successful, said the Minister.

In a statement, the NSCN-IM, in ceasefire since 1997, stated that the Indo-Naga political talks sans integration of all the contiguous Naga areas will be a futile exercise.
The ongoing deadlock surrounding the Manipur University shows no signs of abating as seven heads of departments of the varsity have tendered their resignation in support of the students’ demand for removal of the vice-chancellor.
The HoDs tendered their resignations amid Saturday’s protest rally jointly taken out by Manipur University Student’s Union (MUSU), Manipur University Teacher’s Association (MUTA) and Manipur University Staff’s Association (MUSA) against the vice-chancellor.
Guwahati, June 30: On Saturday, the central government declared the whole Nagaland as disturbed area and extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, (AFSPA) for another 6 months in the state.
The extension of the AFSPA came at a time when the peace talks process between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India were just on the final stage but after this, concerned people have raised doubt on the issue. Some now doubt that since the Government is already on a final discussion with the Naga militants, this extension may continue even if the final accord is signed between the Naga rebels and government.
