ADC Chandel removed from post, 3 others tender resignation letters

IMPHAL | Sept 24 : Autonomous District Council (ADC) chairman of Chandel district Lhukhosei Zou alias Shesei Zou, 51, has been removed from his post following the proceeding of the meeting of the Autonomous District Council, Chandel held on September 24.

He was removed by the orders and in the name of the governor, signed by secretary (TA and Hills), government of Manipur, Athem Muivah.

It may be mentioned that Lhukhosei Zou was arrested along with seven persons along with drugs estimated to be worth over Rs. 27 crore by the Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB) police and Imphal West district police on the intervening night of June 19 and 20.

The reason cited for moving the resolution for removal is that he has abused his office by misappropriating the council funds and involved in criminal activities while discharging duty as chairman and was apprehended U/S 22 (b), 21(c), 25, 29, 60 (3) of NDPS F and FIR No. 43 (60 2018 NAB-PS ) was registered.

His removal also came after 19 elected members of ADC/ Chandel participated in the meeting and unanimously voted in favour of the resolution for his removal. In the turn of events, vice chairman, ADC Chandel, Th. Joy Lamkang has submitted his resignation from primary membership of BJP party today following the suspension order put against him on September 21 by president, BJP Manipur Pradesh, K. Bhabananda Singh on charges of misconduct pertaining to breach of discipline of the party constitution.

Two others, advisor to chairman ADC-Chandel, Ch. Meshil Maring and member, ADC- Chandel, M. Morungson Maring also tendered their resignations from the primary membership of BJP following suspension order put against them on similar grounds.

It may be mentioned that show-cause notices were served to all three of them on same day i.e. on September 21, the day when their suspension orders were served.

All three have mentioned that they have “Lost faith and fell uncomfortable in the administration of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)” in their resignation letters.
