All colleges under MU to shut down: JCSF

IMPHAL | Jul 11 : Joint College Students’ Forum (JCSF) has declared that a total shutdown of all colleges affiliated to Manipur University (MU) will commence from July 12 onwards until the results for the third, fourth and sixth semester college examinations are declared.

A meeting of JCSF held today, resolved to launch the agitations after receiving no positive responses from the state government to its demands of resolving the present crisis at Manipur University, and declaration of the third, fourth and sixth semester college examinations, said a release. The students’ forum had submitted the memorandum of demands to the chief minister on July 7 demanding its execution within three days, it added.

The release from JCSF also asserted that the present crisis at MU over the removal of its Vice Chancellor (VC), AP Pandey has adversely affected the academic functioning of all colleges affiliated to the varsity while also hampering the career of students. The results for the sixth semester exams still being undeclared, and the subsequent need for the results or mark sheets to apply for Post-graduate studies has indeed become a crucial question for the career of students, it said while adding that the both the state and union governments should bear the consequences  arising out of the situation.

The students’ forum, in its release, further declared that it would not let an incompetent and irresponsible VC to destroy the lives and careers of students while adding that the crisis should be resolved at the earliest. It also alleged that the crisis at the Varsity is all due to the incompetency of the VC and his irresponsibility has also resulted in the non-declaration of semester examination results.

The release from JCSF additionally made an appeal to all the students’ group, Civil Voluntary Organisations (CVOs), Meira Paibi lups, clubs and other organisations concerned for help and support in resolving the crisis at MU. The release also requested the state government not to destroy the career and lives of students.
