Guwahati/Barpeta, September 10: Another mechanised country-made boat capsized in lower Assam’s Barpeta district within hours of a rowboat getting capsized in Rakhaldubi Goalpara.
According to sources, the “overcrowded” boat that was carrying more than 50 persons had an “engine failure” and got capsized after hitting a bridge over the Beki river.
So far, 11 persons have been rescued and the rest are still missing. The accident took place at Korakul in Kalgachia in Barpeta district of Assam.
The boat was travelling to Milijuli from Baghbor where there was a boat race conducted
In the other boat mishap that occurred at Rakhaldubi in Goalpara district today, a rowboat carrying more than 10 persons capsized and an eighteen-month-old child went missing.
