Guwahati, September 3: To protest against the non-regularisation of 47,589 teachers in 7,771 venture schools, the Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikyo Mancha will wear black badges and observe Sikshak Pratarana Divas (Teachers’ Betrayal Day) on Teachers’ Day on Wednesday.
The Mancha will also take out a Raj Bhavan Chalo rally from Latasil playground in Guwahati on Wednesday. The Mancha will hand over a memorandum to Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
“We are going to observe September 5 as ‘Teachers’ Deprivation Day’. We urge all venture school teachers to come out on the streets. The government has failed to fulfill its promise to provincialise the venture schools,” said Bhubaneswar Lahkar, general secretary, Mancha.
The All Assam Junior College Principals’ Forum also extended support to the Mancha.
The Mancha team members visited 25 districts across the state seeking support and participation in the ‘Raj Bhavan Chalo’ programme on September 5.~Time8
