IMPHAL | Sept 4 : Irate locals of Samurou thronged at Cheirap Court complex on getting information that Abujam Tombisana, a private boarding owner who allegedly raped a 15 years old minor girl who stayed at the boarding, will be produced before the court.
The protesters demanded to hand over the accused person to their hands, to deliver instant justice.
Unwanted eventuality which was likely to be occurred was refrained as police escorted the accused out from the court complex using a bullet proof vehicle. He was brought out before the special judge (POCSO) Imphal West as his four days police custody remand ended today and the court has remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
The accused person, Abujam Tombisana, 45, son of late A. Thabal of Samurou Awang Leikai, was also a contract teacher at a private school.
Investigation officer (IO) of the case submitted that the father of the victim girl lodged a complaint to Wangoi police station on August 29 stating that her daughter was raped many times by her boarding owner and threatened her to fail the HSLC examination if she discloses the incident to anyone.
Medical legal examinations of both the victim and the accused were conducted and has also recorded the statement of the victim in connection with the case, continued the IO.
Stating that the accused was arrested on the very day of filing the complaint and during interrogation the accused has admitted to have committed the charge level against him, the IO prayed to remand the accused to judicial custody for further investigation of the case.
The incident came to light last Friday after the mother of the rape victim suspected her daughter to be conceived and noticing her traumatic nature.
On the same day irate locals and family members of the victim girl vandalised the boarding, which was running in the house of the accused.~IFP
