September, 21st 2018 (DIPR):-Manipur Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh will formally launch PradhanMantri Jan ArogyaYojana, PM-JAY, a special health scheme for the poor on the 23rd September, 2018 at Imphal. The programme will be launched nationwide by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the same day.
A press conference was held regarding the upcoming Health Scheme at the old secretariat conference hall today. Speaking at the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri L. jayantakumar Singh said that introduction of the new scheme will be a landmark in the health sector of the country. He said that poor people who are eligible to get the benefit under the new scheme will be entitled to for free treatment in the government and empanelled private hospitals. The scheme will now cover free medical insurance up to rupees five lakhs.
Minister Jayantakumar also maintained that around thirty numbers of Health and Wellness Centres have been opened in Imphal West, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Chandel districts with the objective to promote public health and their wellbeing. Free Diagnostic centres have also been opened in order to ensure free laboratory and diagnostic test facilities.
Joint. Secretary Health Rang Peter, Director Health Services Manipur Dr. K. Rajo Singh, Managing Directors of Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, Advance Hospital, Medical Superintendents of District Hospitals and others also attended the occasion.
