KOHIMA, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) has resolved to disassociate itself from the Naga Hoho. It has recalled its representative general secretary from the Hoho till such time Chuba Ozukum relinquish the office of the president. This decision was resolved during the executive council meeting held on September 28 at Phek, a press statement issued by CPO president, Kekhwengulo Lea and general secretary, Mutsivoyi Kotso informed.
Against SC ruling decriminalizing Section 377
The CPO has also expressed discontentment on the recent Supreme Court ruling decriminalizing Section 377 of Indian Penal Code dealing with homosexuality and lesbianism. The CPO claimed that this ruling poses serious challenge to the protected provisions of Art 371A (1) (a) (i) (ii) & (iii) of the Constitution.
Stating that marriage or relationship of same sex is totally alien to the culture, social practices or religion, past and present of the Nagas in general and the Chakhesang in particular, the CPO said it has unanimously resolved not to accept such unnatural marriage or relationship.
