IMPHAL | Jul 11 : Second meeting between representatives of the government of Manipur and United Committee, Manipur (UCM) was held today at the chief minister’s secretariat in connection with the present controversy over the location of main Border Pillar (BP) 81 and related issues.
The meeting was held with chief minister N. Biren Singh in the chair.
In a statement released by especial secretary (home), Manipur, Kh. Rahgumani Singh said the chief minister welcome the participants and expressed his desire to bring a solution to the present controversy over the location of main BP 81.
In the meeting there was appreciation of the concerns raised by the representatives of UCM with reference to the traditional boundary of Manipur, it said.
The meeting appreciated the need for understanding the ground reality in greater detail. It resolved to request government of India to verify the location of BP 81 and adjoining boundary pillars jointly along with all stakeholders, said the release.
There was an understanding that the controversies over the boundary issue should be strictly apolitical, it added.~IFP
