MOREH | Aug 4 : After the recent release of the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) of Assam in which more than 40 lakh people were excluded out of the list, check-posts have been set up at five different locations of Tengnoupal district today, so as to control influx of people from outside the state.
A team of Tengnoupal district police led by SP, S. Ibomcha conducted a strict checking and frisking operations at the check post near Kondong Lairembi temple, Moreh and the vehicles documents and identity of the commuters were checked thoroughly. The commuters were also given awareness in controlling the influx of people from outside the state.
The SP said that to control the influx of people, the state government has initiated the formation of the State Level Monitoring Committee and District Level Monitoring Committee. Under the initiative, five new check posts have been set up today in Tengnoupal district, he added.
The five check posts will be strictly monitored by five different police officers. ASP, Th. Robinson will be on duty at Kondong Lairembi check post, SDPO, Sandeep Gopaldas from Moreh Gate no.2 to Muslim Nagar, DSP, Th. Thomas from Gate no.2 to Myanmar Friendship Bridge, ASP, Suraj at Tengnoupal check post and the OC of the post at Machi check post.~IFP
