UKHRUL | Sept 13 : Dissatisfied with the state government and as solidarity to the three evicted members of ADC members from Ukhrul, the House of ADC Ukhrul has been adjourned indefinitely today by a unanimous decision.
While expressing strong resentment against the humiliation of the state government towards the elected members of ADC from the hill districts in a press briefing at its chamber, ADC Ukhrul chairman, K. Dickson informed that the members present have unanimously decided to adjourn the House Session before taking up any conduct of house business. The House also condemned the callous attitude of state government in handling the eviction process of six ADC members from the hill districts.
Spokesperson of ADC Ukhrul, Paothing Vashum informed that the state government has not allotted fund, budget and power to the district council, thereby, totally neglecting the welfare of the hill districts. He further stated that the present government is not for the tribal people and is indulging in humiliating the elected ADC members from the hill districts. He further stated that the government is not transparent about the developmental works being taken up in Ukhrul district. The chairman and ADC members of Ukhrul district are not made aware of the developmental activities being carried out in the grassroots level, said Paothing while slamming that the present state government is making excuse after excuses.
He also said that the belongings of six ADC members are still lying in the open and the members and their families are taking shelter in the veranda of the sports complex at Khuman Lampak. He expressed that the authority concerned could have arranged accommodations for the ADC members before being evicted from the sports complex. The eviction of ADC members without arranging any alternative is an act of discrimination and humiliation, he added. He also expressed strong resentment against the chairman of HAC and Tribal minister for failing to give accommodation to all the present ADC members from the hill districts and instead harbouring unauthorised occupants in the ADC guest house at Chingmeirong, Imphal. The ADC is still paying the electricity bill and water bill of the guest house, he added.
Moreover, the first floor and second floor of the ADC Bhavan (new building) is being allotted to ST Commission in spite of various complaints. He asserted that accommodation should be given to all the ADC members from the Hill district.
Paothing also informed that the Administrative Block of ADC Ukhrul which was started in 2010-11 is yet to be completed in spite of repeated assurance by the chief minister.~IFP
