Two days after Union minister of state for Home, Kiren Rijiju, claimed that sovereignty and “other serious issues” had been dropped from NSCN (I-M)’s charter of demands, the NSCN (I-M) Monday said it was unbecoming of Rijiju to have made such statements of the on-going negotiation “to which he is incompetent to comment.”
NSCN (I-M) through its MIP stated that “repeated immature statement” of Rijiju was creating a lot of confusion and thereby vitiating the environment of the negotiation.
When the talk was progressing at the highest level, NSCN (I-M) said Rijiju had no business to talk on political issues of which he was ignorant.
“It is demeaning of him to denigrate the Indo-Naga talk which is being held at the Prime Ministerial level. At no point of the negotiation have both the parties ignored important political issues, and the concocted statement of Mr.Rijiju that, ‘NSCN has ‘dropped’ the stand of the Nagas on their sovereign right’ is a figment of his own imagination,” NSCN (I-M) stated.
It stated that the signing of the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015 through the statesmanship of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the NSCN leadership had laid the principles and foundation towards the final solution.
At this crucial stage, NSCN (I-M) said it was uncalled for to give out irresponsible statements in the media or otherwise by any individual or party that contravened the spirit of the peace talk. NSCN (I-M) advised the minister to “restrain himself from such repetition in near future in the interest of both the parties.”
