Security forces have apprehended a cadre of NSCN (K) and an overground worker from Mintong village, Longding in Arunachal Pradesh. Angam Wangshu was apprehended on Monday night while overground worker, Paras Gurung was arrested early Tuesday morning, said PRO (Defence) in a press release. Based on a specific input of a cadre trying to terrorize and extort money, security forces launched an operation and apprehended the duo in two related operations, the PRO informed and further added that extortion note demanding Rs two lakh from residents of Mintong village was also recovered from them. Post spot interrogation, the duo admitted to being active part of the outfit and has been actively involved in extortion activities in Longding district, it added.

Aboi area public on Monday took out a peace rally at Aboi town in protest against the ambush carried out allegedly by NSCN (K) on Sunday near Tenyak River, about 2km from Aboi town, where three security personnel were reportedly killed and several others injured.
People from all walks of life including students, businessmen, public etc attended the rally. The rallyists held placards some of which read ‘We Want Peace’ and ‘Father’s Day with Tears in Aboi’.
Speaking at the rally, Konyak Union Aboi unit president, N. Wanglem Konyak strongly condemned NSCN (K) not just for the ambush but also for disrespecting the Father’s Day.

Kohima/Guwahati, June 18: The Government of Nagaland on Monday strongly condemned the attack by the cadres of NSCN(K) and ULFA(I) on the Assam Rifles and 164 TA (Naga) Bn of Indian Security Forces near Tenyak River on Sunday afternoon.

Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphu Rio through a press communiqué expressed concern on the matter and lamented the loss of lives of the personnel of Assam Rifles in the ambush by NSCN (K) near Aboi in Mon district of Nagaland.

Kohima, June 18 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) remains adamant in its demand for clarification from the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio regarding his purported statement on Naga “integration” and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Although the NDPP and the Chief Minister’s Office (Media Cell) has “struggled to their best to cover up the announcement” of the Chief Minister in Delhi on June 12, 2018 on the two issues, the NPF “once again demand clear clarification under what circumstances prompted the Chief Minister to utter such declarations as the NPF will not allow the Government of the day to play with the interest of the Naga people,” stated a press statement issued by NPF Press Bureau today.

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): In the tradition of consultations, the Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) recently initiated a two-day ‘Naga Consultative Meeting on Political Settlement’ in Dimapur.

The three main objectives of the ‘consultative meetings’ were to address how to strengthen civil society organizations, dialogue with neighbouring communities/peoples, and to assess and address issues and concerns regarding the Naga political negotiation “entering the final stage.”

The United Naga Council (UNC), the apex body of the Nagas, has called for a 12-hour bandh on Monday along the national and state highways in Naga areas of Manipur, demanding an early solution to the ‘Naga political’ crisis.

While providing details on the shutdown, UNC general secretary S Milan said essential services, including education, telecommunication and electricity, will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.

Intensifying its attack on chief minister Neiphiu Rio over his purported statement to media that integration of contiguous Naga-inhabited areas was not possible, opposition NPF has accused him of “selling out” Nagas’ destiny by taking the side of Government of India (GoI) openly.
In a rejoinder, NPF Legislature Party spokesperson Imkong Imchen said by saying so, Rio has made his mind known to GoI and the Naga people without any reservation. 
He said NPF is objecting to his statement as he is the chief minister, adding by making such open declaration in the media in the national capital, he has betrayed the Naga cause with clarity.

People in Kohima will celebrate World Music Day on June 21 at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow starting from 4.30 p.m. onwards.

The event is initiated by the Symphony Academy of Music and presented by the Musicians Guild, powered by SAN Production, where 15 artistes from Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur will be performing.
Addressing media persons on Friday at Symphony Café, Kohima, members of the Musicians Guild said that this will be the third World Music Day celebrated in Kohima, which began 2016.

Reacting sharply to chief minister Neiphiu Rio’s alleged statement that appeared in local dailies on the issue of Naga integration and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, NPF MLA Imkong L Imchen has questioned Rio whether he was under pressure from BJP to make such announcements.
Addressing media persons at NPF’s central office here on Thursday evening, Imchen asked why the  chief minister made the remark that integration of contiguous areas inhabited by Nagas was not possible at such a crucial time when peace talks were on.
Imchen read out clause 8 of the 16-point Agreement that specifically mentions that “The Naga leaders expressed their view that other inhabiting contiguous areas should be enabled to join the new State. It was pointed out to them on behalf of the government of India that Article 3 and 4 of the constitution provided for increasing the area of any state, but it was possible for the government of India to make any commitment in this regard at this stage.”

Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) held a service to commemorate the ninth year of ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ at Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA), Duncan Basti here on Wednesday. 
In his opening address, FNR convener Rev Dr Wati Aier gave a brief history on how the forum was formed after factional clashes in 2008. 
Rev Dr Wati Aier claimed that FNR was instrumental in bringing about almost complete cessation of armed hostilities among various factions and for which, even the Union Home Ministry has acknowledged the role of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, which has also become a subject of study in academic institutions. DIMAPUR, JUNE 13 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) on Wednesday said it would continue to demand for a ‘Frontier Nagaland State,’ reaffirming a resolution which was adopted on May 25, 2007 at Tuensang.

A press release from media cell, ENPO said this resolution was made during the special general session cum felicitation program in honour of the 20 elected members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on June 12 at Town Hall, Tuensang.

Dimapur, June 12: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that that integration of Naga-inhabited areas would not be possible under the current situation thus in a way putting to rest all speculation and concerns in the neighbouring states.

According a report by NELive, Rio significantly admitted for the first time that bringing all Naga inhabited areas under a single administrative platform would not be possible.
