JIRIBAM | Sept 4 : A press meet was held at the office of All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Jiribam District Committee regarding the transfer of teachers at Jiribam Higher Secondary School (JHSS).
The press meet witnessed the participation of general secretary, JHSS Union, Lamnganba Singh and its secretary of Debate, K. Elvis Singh; secretary, Girls Common Room, Kh. Nirmata Devi along with president, AMSU, District Committee, Y. Sanjiv Singh; president, MSF, District Committee, A. Rajiv Meetei and president, DESAM, District Committee, L. Bilax Meetei.
Speaking at the press meet, Lamnganba Singh informed that two teachers from JHSS were transferred following an order from the Education department, government of Manipur, dated May 2, 2018, but another order from the same department dated August 28, 2018, had annulled the transfer orders.
Expressing disagreement at the order, he further stated that despite an appeal made through the media on August 31 requesting for no changes in teachers in the midst of the academic session and to revoke the order issued before September 4, the authorities concerned have remained silent till today.
In protest against the indifference and lackadaisical attitude on the part of the authorities concerned, JHSS Union will launch a three-day Class Boycott with effect from September5, he added. He also declared that even if the Class Boycott fails to have any impact on the authorities concerned, further agitations will follow.
The other participants at the press meet also expressed their support and solidarity with the call for Class Boycott while imploring the authorities concerned not to make such irresponsible transfers of teachers during the academic session. “All teachers have different methods and ways of teaching, so arrange the transfer of teachers after the academic session in the interest of the students,” they added.~IFP
