NPF has jumped in the fray over a report in social media which alleged that deputy chief minister (DY. CM) Y Patton, who is also in charge of home department, had threatened chief secretary R Benchilo Thong over the issue of acceding to request from Addl. DG Police Rupin Sharma to be attached with Nagaland house New Delhi.
NPF through its Press Bureau, expressed shocked at the manner in which Patton allegedly threatened the chief secretary .
NPF recalled that , Sharma, who was removed as DGP couple of months back, was trying to go on deputation again with initial posting to Nagaland House, New Delhi so as to enable him to also pursue deputation and also medical check up and that the file was under process .
NPF alleged that the home commissioner had moved the file for granting of medical leave to Sharma whenhe( Sharma) had not applied for any such leave. Due to the controversy, the matter was brought to the notice of chief minister Neiphiu Rio, said NPF.
NPF said Rio agreed to Sharma’s request to be deputed and attached to Nagaland house and after which CMO issued directive to the home commissioner to put up the file for Rio.
What followed next was shocking said NPF as sources disclosed that , the Deputy CM threatened to “finish off Thong” after he (Patton) returned from Mizoram.
Patton had led a state BJP delegation of legislators to Mizoram to campaign for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
NPF asked people as to how far would they bear such unruly behaviour of their political leaders and how safe would other public servants be at the hands of “these brutes” when a top bureaucrat himself was openly threatened like this?.
NPF assumed that the chief secretary had become sandwiched between the chief minister and Deputy CM due to their “clash of interest and not for welfare of the State”.
Expressing amusement over Rio’s silence over the matter, NPF asked the chief minster to issue a clarification so that no official suffered like this.
NPF further alleged that the PDA government was marred by one controversy after another that depicted insecurity deep within. It asked the PDA government not to disgrace law of the land and enforce it.
