NSUI demands early solution to MU deadlock

IMPHAL | Aug 4 : National Students Union of India (NSUI), State Unit staged a sit-in-protest today at the gate of Congress Bhavan, demanding early solution to the Manipur University deadlock.

The student body denounced the state government for not resolving the varsity crisis despite of the two months long struggle of the varsity community.

President of NSUI state unit, Pukhrambam Bangkimchandra said that Central government is diluting the education system of the nation in many ways. “Appointing the post of Manipur University vice-chancellor to a person with political background is the best example of it,” he added.

Manipur University students’ Union (MUSU), Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA) and Manipur University Staff Association (MUSA) have been demanding for removal of incompetent vice-chancellor, A.P Pandey for the past 65 days but unfortunately it has not been materialised, he lamented.

As a student’s union, NSUI state unit is demanding the state government to resolve the issue of Manipur University at earliest by fulfilling the genuine demand put up by MUSU, MUTA and MUSA, said Bangkimchandra while adding that saving university also lies in the hand of the people of the state.

One of the students studying in Johnstone Higher Secondary stated that due to many burning issues, they fail to get proper education and urged the state government to resolve the issue at earliest.

On the issue of MU, there have been agitations in every parts of India against the central government for destructing the higher education system and the agitators also commented that present government is anti-student.
