MOREH | Aug 5 : After a national level monitoring committee and district level monitoring committee had been set up following the release of the final draft of National Register citizenship( NRC) in which more than 40 lakh people were excluded in the list, a drive was started yesterday at several check posts by a combined team of CDO Moreh and Moreh Police.
The drive was taken up as a part of the operation to screen entry of illegal immigrants at police check posts and gates at specific spots of Tengnoupal district under the supervision of SP, Dr. S Ibomcha.
The drive led by ASP, Moreh Police, Kh. Robinsun, OC Moreh police, Letkhohao Vaiphei and OC, CDO, Moreh, Shaktisen was conducted at Moreh gate near Namphalong Bazar, Myanmar, where people coming into the state were checked.
Those who were found moving near the border and labourers working near the border were interrogated and their identities were checked. The team conducted further inspections at the Indo-Myanmar iron bridge where people coming into the country were checked for identifying documents. Security forces deployed at the gates are now keeping vigilant.
Similar drives were also conducted at Moreh Bazar, and NH 102. On the other hand, checkings were conducted at check posts under Tengnoupal district.~IFP
