IMPHAL | Sept 27 : Members of People Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) today threw eggs at the photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Manipur chief minister N. Biren, vice-chancellor A.P. Pandey, professor K. Yugindro and professor M. Shyamkesho at Thangmeiband condemning the arrest of students and teachers over the Manipur University crisis.
PRJA convenor, Erendro Leichombam said, “It is very unfortunate that police arrested the teachers and students of Manipur University on charge of ‘attempt to murder’ and execute surgical strike inside the hostels of the varsity just for throwing two eggs to two professors of the varsity. This is a dictatorial act of the BJP led government.”
“As I have announced to demonstrate such protest, police had raided my house today early morning and I continue to stay as an absconder. Now I am ready to go to jail for throwing eggs at some photos,” he added.
The demonstration was planned to be conducted in front of Erendro’s residence but the location was changed as police kept monitoring the situation since last night, said a member of PRJA.
