Raid by state security forces is ‘Midnight Rape of MU Sanctity’: MUSA, MUTA

IMPHAL | Sept 21 : An emergency meeting of the Joint Action Committee of Manipur University Community was held on September 21 to deliberate on the raid by the state security forces on the midnight of September 20 which continued till the afternoon of September 21.

A release jointly signed by president of MUSA, S. Jibon Kumar and president of MUTA, professor I. Tomba Singh stated that the vice-chancellorship of professor AP. Pandey is leaving many unprecedented events which no university in the world would be proud to have the experience. It also condemned the raid conducted by the state security forces as ‘Midnight Rape of the Sanctity of Manipur University’ while mentioning all the members felt troubled by the continuance of locking up more than ninety students and the six teachers in various police stations of Imphal.

After a detailed deliberation on the various dimensions and potential negative social implications of the ‘Vicious rape of Sanctity of Manipur University’, the meeting unanimously resolved that the attack on the sanctity of Manipur university by the state security forces on the night of September 20 be condemned as a heinous crime of the worst kind in any academic campus in the world, the release said.

It further added that the members also resolved that the dastardly act of professor K. Yugindro Singh, the alleged pro VC, and professor M. Shyamkesho Singh be condemned. It also resolved to boycott the two in all future engagements of the university community.
