UKHRUL | May 17 : Ardent Foundation (DSIR-SIRO) organized a science exhibition programme titled “Science Awareness Mela amongst the Tribal Communities in Manipur” at Rising Model School, Phungyar on May 17.
The exhibition programme which was sponsored by department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, witnessed the participation of all government schools and private schools from Phungyar headquarter.
Speaking as chief guest of the occasion, retired officer of Indian Revenue and Administrative Services (IRAS), Hopingson Shimray highlighted the pivotal role played by science and technology in the world today, while resource person Dr. Rimai Joy from Ardent Foundation (DSIR-SIRO) expressed the necessity for organising such science awareness program to let students enjoy and learn the importance of science through practical demonstration.
As part of the exhibition, students presented practical demonstrations on various scientific fields and technology including potato batteries, hydraulic cranes, water level testers, telegraphic conversations, smartphone microscopes, wind mills, science behind miracles, self-watering plants amongst others.
Along with their parents and guardians, more than 500 students from different schools of the district attended the science exhibition programme.~IFP
