Guwahati/Lakhimpur, July 7: In a horrific incident, a father of six children from Lakhimpur sold his 10-year-old daughter to a family in Arunachal’s Itanagar for Rs 1.25 lakh to manage his financial debts.
What is more shocking about the incident is that the father identified as Nur Islam then lodged a missing case at Harmoti Police Outpost stating that his younger daughter is missing.
Thereafter, police arrested two more people identified as Ismail Ali and Tanna Ravi who were also involved in plotting the entire incident.
Speaking before the media on Saturday, the father of the victim girl claimed that poverty compelled him to sell his younger daughter to a rich family in Itanagar as he was going through a severe financial crisis and owes a huge amount of loan, thus to manage his debts, he planned to sell his younger daughter.
It is to be noted that Harmoti Police have taken the father and his other two accomplices into the police custody.
Meanwhile, Harmoti Police have launched a search operation in Itanagar to rescue the minor girl.~Time8
