UKHRUL | Sept 13 : Horticulture and Soil Conservation minister, Thounaojam Shyamkumar today inspected Model Horticulture Centre, a project implemented by the horticulture and soil conservation department under North Eastern Council (NEC) funding at Ngarumphung village, Ukhrul district.
The project is implemented with a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
Addressing the media persons, Shyamkumar said he is happy that the department officials have properly implemented the project at the Ngarumphung village. Stating that it is the only Model Horticulture Centre in Ukhrul district, he informed that such projects are also implemented at districts of Tamenglong, Kangpokpi and other valley districts. He informed that he will soon inspect the development of the projects at the other districts.
He advised the department officials to make the vermicompost pit and solar panels fully functional at the NgarumphungModel Horticulture Centre. He also asked the officials to keep the surroundings neat and clean in order to boost the morale of the farmers so that they can contribute to their maximum level.
Shyamkumar further said the state government led by chief minister, N. Biren Singh is fully committed to provide assistance to the beneficiaries of the state. Stating that the Model Horticulture Centre will help the farmers in providing livelihood, he said that the officials should work properly and implement various projects for the welfare of the people.~IFP
