IMPHAL | Sept 5 : To export local made garments manufactured at Imphal, state government will sign a memorandum of understanding with a Mauritian company within a week.
Chief minister, N. Biren Singh stated while inspecting the three manufacturing units of Apparel and Garment Making Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West district today.
The building and machinery of Unit-1 of the government-owned centre is currently utilised by Big Concepts Foundation Private Limited and Unit-3 by a local company called Ningthibee Collections for high quality apparel production.
Speaking to media persons, Biren said the three units can produce large number of production and after accessing the production unit, the state will sign a MoU with a Mauritian company. The company has been inquiring the state government whether it can supply about one lakh pieces of various apparels per month, he added.
Biren further said it was the second visit to the centre and the production has improved. The state is planning to sign a MoU with the two local private companies within a week to work together in this regard in public-private partnership model.
Around 10 trainers from Delhi would train around 1000 youths of the state to start large scale production of apparels, and the centre has machineries for around 350 workers, he said.

Rajen; chairman of MANIDCO and MLA of Hiyanglam constituency, Radheshyam Yumnam; MLA of Sekmai constituency, H. Dingo, MLA of Yaiskul constituency,Th. Satyabrata; principal secretary (Commerce and Industry), P. Vaiphei and other high ranking officials of the state attended the inspection.~IFP
