Students, parents and teachers to blame for poor performance of govt schools

IMPHAL | Jun 9 : High school leaving certificate topper of Manipur government school, Kakchingtabam Keke Sharma was felicitated today at Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Lamlong Bazzar.

Keke claimed that government, parents and students as responsible for government school students not figuring in the first 25 ranks. He said, “If the students and parents take responsibility and put pressure, teachers will automatically help the students in studying.

Teachers fail to focus on students of government school as students do not focus in their studies”.

He said in government school there is no strict discipline or punitive measure like in private schools so students neglect to attend regular classes. Government has implemented policy on free education for government schools but the policy did not mention to give knowledge to students, he added.

Most of the students of government school are sports persons. Many of them got prizes on national level but no one mentioned that the students are from government school.

Instead people analyse government school as inferior compared to private school. People have different choices; parents and teachers should aware of the choice whether the student’s interest is on sports or other field, said Keke.

Director of directorate of education (S), Th. Kirankumar as chief guest of the day said schools have different ideology according to their mode of teaching, so people should not compare the difference between government schools and private schools.

Students of government schools could be compared with Guinea Pig in a laboratory. Students of government school are forcibly involved in societal issue which is affecting the academic environment. He appealed student’s organisations and others concerned not to make involve government school students so that their career is undisturbed.

Additional director of directorate of education (S), Ch. Sachi, principal of Lamlong higher secondary school, H. Sobita Devi attended the function as guest of honour and president respectively.

Later Keke was honoured with memento presentation by school authorities. It can be mentioned that he got 44th position securing 87.8 percent with letter marks in all subjects.
