UKHRUL | Jul 3 : Villagers of Talui celebrated Shumkhap Phanit 2018 under the theme ‘Remembering God's Blessing’.
The celebration which is done after paddy transplantation was attended by MLA of Chingai assembly constituency, Khashim Vashum as chief guest along with executive members of ADC Ukhrul Kapangpam Zimik, Khayinghor Valui, Mashunngam SP, Thuingahan Pheirim and deputy commissioner of Ukhrul, Harmit Singh Pahuja at Pre Centenary Hall of Talui village.
While delivering his speech, Khashim said that there might have been lapses and shortcoming from the present government in implementing various developmental works and programme, however there is a sincere approach from the government in reaching out to the people and to understand their problems. Any mission or development can be successful only when there is maximum co-operation from the people, he added.
He also stressed on the importance for the successful construction of National Highway 102A from Dungrei, Ukhrul district to Tadupi, Senapati district and urged the villagers to kindly extend maximum co-operation so as to complete the project at the earliest.
Guru Ngahanshang Lungleng said that Shumkhap Phanit has its significance and is celebrated to mark the end of paddy transplantation season.
L. Keishing, Retd. Government teachers informed that during this festival, the villagers indulged in feasting. The celebration will wind up on 6 July.
The MLA and his accompanying team also participated in the ‘Go to Village’ mission held at 6 Talui DCC, organised by district administration at Talui village. He appealed Social Welfare department of Ukhrul to kindly take initiative in rectifying the defaulters and award the old age pension scheme to the deserving person. He also appealed the various other departments to extend their valuable service in making the mission a success.
Harmit Singh Pahuja expressed gratitude to the MLA and members of ADC Ukhrul who have participated in the sixth round of Go to Village mission held today at Talui village.
During the programne a cheque of Rs. 1,27,133 was handed to headman/chairman of Ngaingu for IWMP project. DRDA staff informed that a sum of Rs. 1,70,194 will also be handed soon to Talui village for IWMP.
The programme also witnessed Khashim distributing GI Sheets to eight individuals, Sintex water tank to 10 individuals, tarpaulin to six individuals and LPG connection to 23 households.~IFP
