Tangkhul CVOs want SF frisking posts withdrawn

IMPHAL | Jul 29 : Tangkhul CVOs, in its co-ordination meeting held yesterday at the office of Tangkhul Naga Long, deliberated in-depth on Shingkap imbroglio and visited the village to ascertain the facts of the prevailing situations.

A release said that frisking by security forces creates a sense of insecurity and fear psychosis to the commuters, and it is a sign of insincerity on the part of the security forces. Deploying security forces in the neighbouring villages under the commandant of 17 Assam Rifles, which are about 200 personnel at Marou, Shingta and Lungphu villages, 140 personnel at Itham, Bahoram and Chongdan villages and camping of 100 personnel at Hongpei village areas, is a nefarious attempt to jeopardise the hard earned Indo-Naga peace process, alleged the release.

The release also questioned the necessity of deployment of one battalion for the medical camp organised by Assam Rifles at Shingkap village. “Is the concerned district administrator well informed regarding the said medical camp? Do the army men need to carry ration for at least a week and hole up in the deep forest to conduct medical camp?” it said while adding that the dramatic camouflaging act of the security forces is significant enough to prove the failed attempt to destroy the peaceful atmosphere.

In the interest of the people, the Tangkhul CVOs has humbly appealed the competent authority to withdraw all the security forces from the strategic area in order restore peace in the areas, said the release.
