IMPHAL | Aug 10 : Mothers of IMA Keithel and Vendors at the surrounding areas of Waheng Leikai and Nagamapal areas today ceased their daily trade till noon.
The trade cease-work strike was carried out in protest against the possibility of implementation of Article 371(a) in Manipur as outcome the Naga Framework Agreement.
The shutdown strike was organised by eight women organisations under the aegis of Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL).
Briefing media personnel, president of KIL, R.K. Sanahanbi said both the ruling and the opposition parties should listen to the voice of the people and endeavour for the welfare of Manipur. The central government should not try to disintegrate the unity of hills and valley and create enmity within the different communities of Manipur, she added.
R.K. Sanahanbi further stated that if the upcoming assembly session of Manipur does not take a firm decision for the welfare of Manipur, it can be assumed that the elected representatives of the state are not supporting the movement of the people.~IFP
