IMPHAL | Jul 29 : All Manipur VDF Association has today announced to suspend its cease work strike with effect from tomorrow till August 8, in view of the burning issues and law and order situation in the state.
However the VDF association has appealed for their demands to be conceded within the strike suspension period.
In a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club, vice-president of the association, Moirangthem Amuthoi said that the association is agitating against state government on 13 demands including increase of honorarium and service security.
“The association began cease work strike since July 11, however the state government remain deaf ears to our demand till date. Therefore, the agitators finally decided to intensify protest and a mass rally was held yesterday,” said Amuthoi.
He continued, “some members of the agitating VDF met ADGP yesterday. The additional police chief told us that the chief minister had assured of discussing the matter in cabinet.”
He also clarified that the agitators did not snatch any weapons from the police though there were some moments of grabbing of weapons during confrontation.~IFP
